Lexplore
Reading and writing
Lexplore is a product for identifying reading and writing difficulties.

Lexplore identifies children's reading and writing difficulties, so that schools can intervene at an early stage. The product offers a clear picture of children’s general ability to read and write in a specific school or school district.

The method is based on AI, machine learning and scientific research. The method was developed by Mattias Nilsson Benfatto and Gustaf Öqvist Seimyr, scientists at Karolinska Institutet and founders of Lexplore.

Learning Goals

The following are the high educational quality aspects in this product.

Lexplore tests actual reading ability, the reading of a text.
By discovering the children who are at risk of dyslexia, the method eliminates the need for unnecessary dyslexia assessments of children who are not at risk.
The results are presented in a web portal which provides a clear overview of the reading ability in a certain group.
Using AI, a child's eye movement data is compared to a statistical model that identifies the differences in eye movements between children at risk of dyslexia and children who are not at risk.
Lexplore's method is based on researchers and using modern tools like eye movement tracking, machine learning and AI.

The supported learning goals are identified by matching the product with several relevant curricula descriptions on this subject area. The soft skills are definitions of learning goals most relevant for the 21st century. They are formed by taking a reference from different definitions of 21st century skills and Finnish curriculum.
