Learning Goals

The pedagogical analysis covers how the product supports learning of the identified skills. The student’s role is assessed by four contrary pair parameters, which are selected to cover the most essential aspects on the use of the product.

Passive
Active
FreeJoo has great pre-curated materials for helping one's professional development as a teacher. Joining FreeJoo gives the teacher the freedom to choose what and how to learn, and when to do courses based on their needs. FreeJoo's course builders have great integrations, e.g. the educators can make the courses interactive by using quizzes, Padlet writing etc.
Rehearse
Construct
In FreeJoo the learning goals are very well present, and the course content also refers to other courses in the platform; giving recommendations on what could be learned next. This allows building new knowledge gradually. The progress in the course is clearly made visible with percentages and progress bars, and the learners also gain a certificate after the course.
Linear
Non-linear/Creative
The topics teachers wish to explore are non-linear, meaning there is no concrete right or wrong, but rather the learner needs to apply the content to their own unique work. When enrolling to a course, the progress of the learner is very well laid out; a student can view their progress throughout the course and see what they have achieved and what they have to study further in order to complete the course.
Individual
Collaborative
The key part is that the user is in control of their learning goals and path. The user progresses at their own pace which is important as they need to understand big issues before moving onto the next stage. FreeJoo allows collaboration within the same school - the course creation and community management tools allow for very rich and interactive school-wide training. FreeJoo also provides a channel for sharing information and forming connection with a multinational community of teachers.

The following are the high educational quality aspects in this product.

FreeJoo has great tools for creating professional learning courses both inside your organization and for public use.
Integration to several online tools allow for rich online pedagogy in the courses.
The community and networking tools make FreeJoo useful in long-term development.

The supported learning goals are identified by matching the product with several relevant curricula descriptions on this subject area. The soft skills are definitions of learning goals most relevant for the 21st century. They are formed by taking a reference from different definitions of 21st century skills and Finnish curriculum.
